    Prof. Felker: The first thing I would say is that it is not one size fits all. The question has to be asked， what do you need it for? Are you trying to make a diagnosis? Are you trying to understand prognosis? Are you trying to pick a treatment? What you want in a biomarker might be completely different depending on what your question is. A good analogy is that a biomarker is just a tool. When you reach into the toolbox， you need to know what it is you are trying to accomplish before you know which tool will be best for the job.
